For DENS, the insights gained in the C2FUEL project have been one of the steppingstones towards commercialization of the technology, able to produce power from formic acid. The tests using the C2FUEL prototype have created insights into the technology and systems engineering. These insights have been used to create a design of a 20 kW formic acid to power system at TRL 8.
In 2022 DENS will take this revised model into series production and work on efficiency improvements. To scale the technology further throughout Europe, DENS has acquired the European Innovation Commission (EIC) blended finance instrument and an investment of Koolen industries, a venture firm focused on funding the energy transition.
