C2FUEL is happy to announce, after minor technical difficulties and a global pandemic, that the first 1000-hour degradation campaign of a CO2 capture solvent (30wt% MEA) with industrial blast-furnace gas has been achieved. The demonstration – using a minipilot conceived by ENGIE Lab CRIGEN and CNRS-LRGP – was conducted on the DK6 site in Dunkirk, France with gas supplied by the nearby ArcelorMittal steelmaking plant.
The unit has successfully demonstrated CO2 capture and regeneration from blast-furnace gas, testing a commercial heterogeneous hollow fiber membrane contactor (HFMC) as the absorption module.
Congratulations for this impressive demonstration, which invaluable results will be incorporated into an upscaled demonstrator pilot to be commissioned at DK6 in 2023!
